Boatshed Norfolk are very pleased to be able to offer to the market this genuine Steel Dutch barge houseboat / live-aboard vessel. She is a real piece of nautical history as she is 100 years old this year having been made in 1923 in Holland.
The current owners bought her 4 years ago and sailed her across the North Sea back to Norfolk in a 16 hour trip. The 120HP 6 cyl Fiat Aifo diesel engine is clean and tidy. I am advised that she starts and runs just fine and is very economical having used about 200 litres in the trip over from Holland. She is currently winterised. She has 2 fuel tanks totalling some 800 litres capacity which give her great range capability.
The boat had been a water-based home for some 30 years before the current owners bought her. Make no mistake this is a fully working barge that can be driven anywhere she can fit, and is a wonderful waterside home that offers huge space and comfort and is fully fitted out. The owners are just about to replace all the floor coverings with wood floors and carpets so she will be perfect for the new owner.
She has full sized fridge, freezer, dishwasher all concealed in the galley, and the galley has ample workspaces, sink and 5 burner gas hob and combined full size oven grill and microwave. Opposite the galley is a lovely "L" shaped dining area with a solid wood table and plenty of space to move about and be comfortable. The galley also has huge windows allowing fantastic views of your surroundings and the large double doors open out to the massive teak decked cockpit making summer outside dining fabulous and opening up the galley to the large outside space through the magnificent "galleon stern" glazed doors.
Moving forward from the galley you step down two small steps to the cosy, but very large saloon. Seating is to starboard and storage space is to port with a focal point of the classic "Godin" art deco period stove which really sets the tone for the elegant space. The stove has all the flue installed in the wall behind its location and just needs the connection pipe fitted, to use it (which is supplied). The external chimney is also provided to use with this stove and the roof connection has a red cover cap in place. The Godin stove has not been used as the boat also has full diesel-fired wet heating to radiators. All the floors are about to have new wooden floor coverings and carpets fitted throughout so please take this into consideration when looking at the pictures. Also the heads compartment has just had new lighting fitted. This will really show how nice the heads and spacious shower room is. The electric Techma toilet is plumbed to a holding tank and the bifold shower door maximises the useful space in what is a very good sized heads area.
Opposite the large heads and shower is a good sized cabin that converts from a single or day cabin to a double and has its own sizeable storage space. This cabin is awaiting a new mattress which will be included in the sale. Finally at the forward end is the huge full headroom master cabin. This has the bed forward under the foredeck and under the pitched hatch, so you can lay in bed and look at the stars. It is a wonderful and cosy space that is the full width of this impressive vessel and also offers large built in storage.
The boat has a current Boat Safety Certificate to march 2024. The outside superstructure was all re-painted late in 2022 and she is a genuine rare example of a true Dutch steel barge home. The current owners had her fully surveyed in 2019 which is available to the new owner. She also has a good history and document package making this a stand out example of her type and a floating home that is sure to please and turn heads.
